2026 marks 10 years of Edicola 518, in Perugia. For this anniversary, the founders decided to embark on a year long participatory research to redefine the role of the Edicola, using it as a device to investigate the changes taking place in the city, in its public spaces and with respect to the independent cutlural production.
In October we curated a workshop of spatial improvisation to play with the Edicola as an object and as a transformative tool to shape the surrounding.
In October we curated a workshop of spatial improvisation to play with the Edicola as an object and as a transformative tool to shape the surrounding.
15 participants played with us in measuring and turning Edicola upside-down and inside-out, using tools, chairs, tables, cables, fabric to reshape the space and test new posible confiugurations. A sleeping pod? A market porch? A carpet garden? A playground? A greek temple? How many things could it become?
Most of all, through all these metamorphoses, how can Edicola remain a collective archive of the city for the citizens?
