URBAN DEVICE FOR ABITARE IN VIA PADOVA
Collaborative building project
2024
How to support the work of activists fighting the housing emergency? Can collective artefacts advocate for urban rights? How to give visibility to neglected political struggles? These are some of the questions we explored through the building workshop held at Base Milano on the 15th of March, the closing episode of CASE. CASE was a public program curated by Erica Petrillo for Base Milano reflecting on the topic of Housing in a broad sense, from the global to the local scale.

Me, Erica and 7 collectives of designers / architects / artisans based in Milano - Camposaz, Curaa.studio, Hypereden, FormeTentative, Zattere, Studio Gisto, Abuse Studio - have shared our expertise and ideas on building and collaborative processes, working as a macro collective beyond individual authorship. Together we have envisioned and built a transportable device, a hybrid between a listening desk, an archive and a totem, that will be adopted by Abitare in Via Padova for their activities in the neighbourhood.
